GRIVA has a summer assignment for all our members and guests. It involves something we all love to do: look through the old family photo albums!

Our October 2010 program will be a work session on the dating of “mystery” photos and research techniques to help you identify the unknown people in them. We would like members and guests to bring copies (keep your originals safe at home, please!) of family photos from various time periods. Our experts can help you pinpoint the likely year the photo was taken as well as suggest avenues for research from hints in the shot. We would also like you to bring photos whose time and place are known, as these may serve as examples of photographic styles and customs of their particular times.

So gather the family this summer and pick out the most interesting selections from your photo albums. Sharing knowledge is what GRIVA is all about, and we are excited to bring you this new style of program.
