Caroline’s Journal and More

Bibb Edwards will be the guest speaker for GRIVA’s April 25, 2017 meeting. The program will highlight the journal entries of a woman from rural Tidewater Virginia during the middle of the 19th century.

Mrs. Caroline Baker [Ellett] Littlepage, born 1810, of Woodbury in King William County, Virginia, kept a journal for many years. Her most complete known volume (1 June 1864 to 22 June 1867 ) and a wonderful transcription were generously donated in 2003 to the Virginia Historical Society (Mss5:1 L7332:1) by Louise Eichhorn Schroeder and Dudley M. Eichhorn in memory of their mother, Ruth Littlepage Barnett Eichhorn. In order for Caroline’s voice to reach a wider audience, each of her entries are being posted on the 150th anniversary of the day they were recorded. To read them and learn more, visit http://thelittlepagejournal.com .

Join us at 7:45 p.m. at the Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 West Huguenot Road, Richmond, Virginia. There will be a short GRIVA meeting before the program with refreshments and social time afterwards. Our meetings are free to the public and visitors are welcome.
